🌟 WICOR Spotlight 🌟
In Ms. Weekley’s Learning Strategies class, students practiced a partner interview activity to strengthen active listening and begin developing note-taking skills. Each student worked with a classmate to ask and answer thoughtful questions, then recorded their partner’s responses. This activity highlighted multiple WICOR strategies: ✍️ Writing to capture ideas, 💡 Inquiry through asking questions, and 🤝 Collaboration by engaging in meaningful conversations. Students not only practiced essential academic skills but also built stronger classroom relationships as they got to know one another better. 💬✨

🌟 WICOR Spotlight 🌟
In Ms. Ratajczyk’s math class today, students practiced their WICOR skills through Writing, Inquiry, and Collaboration! ✍️ For Writing, they took notes to strengthen their understanding. 💡 For Inquiry, they answered the bellwork question: “How do you think inequalities are similar to equations?” 🤝 For Collaboration, they worked together in a matching game, pairing inequalities with their corresponding graphs. Way to go, Jaguars! 🐾

✨ WICOR Spotlight! ✨
🎉 Our Jaguars in Ms. Piechocki’s math class had a blast practicing their math facts with Multiplication Splat! This fun, fast-paced game let students use WICOR strategies in action—writing down answers and strategies, asking questions and noticing patterns, collaborating with teammates, staying organized to keep the game moving, and reading problems quickly to splat the right solution. It was a perfect mix of learning and fun, and our Jaguars showed that multiplication can be active, engaging, and exciting! 💚

🌟 Our Student Government Association (SGA) is stepping up to make a difference! 🌟
We’re excited to share that SGA is hosting a fundraiser in support of the Ronald McDonald House, an organization that provides comfort and care for families with children in the hospital. 💛🏠
This is a great opportunity for our Jaguars to show their generosity and community spirit while helping families in need. Every contribution—big or small—goes toward making sure parents can stay close to their children during challenging times.
Stay tuned for details on how you can participate and support this amazing cause. Let’s come together and show what Jaguar Nation can do! 🐾💚

Jaguar Parents and Families,
At Hobbs, we believe that no student should ever worry about going hungry. A full stomach means a ready mind, and making sure our Jaguars are fed is one of the most important ways we can support their success.
That’s why we’ve partnered with Feeding the Gulf Coast to provide weekend food backpacks for our students. This program is open to all students, no questions asked and no income requirements—because every child deserves the security of knowing there’s food at home.
🍎 Weekend Food Backpacks
• First distribution: Friday, September 26
• Each backpack includes food to help stretch meals at home and snacks for two days.
• Sign up here: Weekend Food Backpack Form

Good afternoon Jaguar parents, families, and staff!
This is Brandon Koger, principal at Hobbs Middle, with an important update about our School Improvement Plan (SIP) and accountability reports.
The Hobbs Middle SIP is now available for review. Under Florida law, each school must submit a SIP for approval by the School Board. These plans outline goals and strategies to increase student achievement.
Our SIP was developed in collaboration with teachers, staff, parents, guardians, community members, and students. It has already been reviewed by our School Advisory Council and is currently being peer-reviewed by the district’s Office of Continuous Improvement. Now, we invite your feedback.
📄 Review the SIP here: https://tinyurl.com/r94yvfhh.
In addition, the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) requires schools to share annual reports on student achievement, accountability, and subgroup data. These reports are also available for you to review at the EduData website: https://edudata.fldoe.org/index.html.
If you have any questions or feedback about the SIP or accountability reports, please don’t hesitate to contact me directly at kogerb@santarosa.k12.fl.us.
Thank you for your continued partnership in helping Hobbs Middle grow and succeed!

In Mrs. Shackle’s class, students practiced WICOR strategies with a focus on Critical Reading and Collaboration. Working in pairs, they took turns reading the assigned text aloud to build active listening and comprehension. As they read, students highlighted essential information and circled key vocabulary to deepen understanding.
Afterward, partners compared and discussed their annotations, sharing insights and opinions that fostered meaningful engagement with rigorous content.
WICOR (Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, Reading) strategies make learning engaging, meaningful, and fun—and at Hobbs, this is the type of hands-on, rigorous learning your students will experience! 🙌📚🔑
